Your mission

Friendsurance is looking for a motivated Senior Accountant (m/f/d), who can join our Finance Team as soon as possible - either as a permanent employee or temporarily as a freelancer - and take responsibility for scaling our financial processes.

Your mission is to keep our finances on track with analytical precision and to secure our growth through proactive optimizations. You bring a modern drive to accounting, think digitally, and ensure that we always have a full overview of our key metrics. In short: you make our accounting smarter and more scalable.

Your tasks & Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Accounting: Independent management of accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and fixed asset accounting, including the precise reconciliation of all accounts.

  • Closing Excellence: Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB (German GAAP) and IFRS, as well as the submission of consolidated VAT returns.

  • Automation & Digitization: Identification and implementation of tools to automate accounts payable and receivable processes, as well as optimizing interfaces between operational systems and DATEV.

  • Reporting & Controlling: Setup and maintenance of cost center and cost unit accounting, and the introduction and monitoring of KPIs for management reporting.

  • Process Optimization: Continuous development of financial closing processes with the goal of an efficient fast-close.

  • Project Support: Acting as an interface to Sales and Product to assess and proactively help shape the financial impact of new features and partnerships.

Your profile

  • Qualification: A background in accounting or as a Tax Assistant (Steuerfachangestellte/r), plus further certification as a Certified Management Accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter/in) or a comparable degree..

  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, ideally as the (sole) person responsible for accounting in a growing medium-sized company or startup.

  • Expertise: Solid knowledge of consolidation and financial reporting according to HGB and IFRS is mandatory.

  • DATEV-Expert: Proficient in using DATEV (including "Unternehmen Online") and experience with digital invoice workflows (e.g., Moss, Candis).

  • Tools: Strong MS Office skills, particularly in creating Excel reporting and analysis.

  • Mindset: Analytical sharpness paired with a hands-on mentality and a true entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Language skills: German at C1 level and professional English for our international team.
